Looseness ranges of triangulations on closed surfaces
The looseness (G) of a triangulation G on a closed surface F 2 is defined as the minimum number k such that for any surjection c : V (G) → {1, 2, . . . , 3+ k}, there exists a face uvw of G which gets three distinct colors c(u), c(v) and c(w). We define min(G) and max(G) as the minimum and the maximum of (G′) taken over all triangulationsG′ on F 2 isomorphic to G as graphs. We shall show that m...
متن کاملDiagonal flips in pseudo-triangulations on closed surfaces
A pseudo-triangulation on a closed surface without loops is a graph embedded on the surface so that each face is triangular and may have multiple edges, but no lo $0$ps. We shall establish a theory of diagonal flips in those pseudotriangulations. Our theory will work in parallel to that for simple triangulations basically, but it will present more concrete theorems than the latter.
متن کاملDiagonal flips in outer-triangulations on closed surfaces
We show that any two outer-triangulations on the same closed surface can be transformed into each other by a sequence of diagonal ips, up to isotopy, if they have a su6ciently large and equal number of vertices. c © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
متن کاملTransforming Triangulations on Nonplanar Surfaces
We consider whether any two triangulations of a polygon or a point set on a non-planar surface with a given metric can be transformed into each other by a sequence of edge flips. The answer is negative in general with some remarkable exceptions, such as polygons on the cylinder, and on the flat torus, and certain configurations of points on the cylinder. 1. Introduction. Most of the problems co...
متن کاملTriangulations of surfaces
Triangulation is a convenient tool to consider when we are determining some properties of a topological space. Specifically, we can compute the homology and cohomology groups using the simplicial homology and cohomology of the triangulated space which is much easier than involving more complicated theories. In this paper, we will review the standard proof by Radó of the existence of triangulati...
